At Foundation Church, we believe the church exists to do more than gather for worship on Sunday mornings. We exist to help people know God, follow Jesus, grow in their faith, and share the hope of the Gospel with others.
Our mission is simple: Be and Build Disciples.
Everything we do - from worship and Bible study to serving our community and investing in the next generation - is centered on helping people become more like Jesus and equipping them to help others do the same.
Our vision is to be a church that makes a lasting difference in our community by following the example of Jesus. We want to be a church that understands the people and culture around us while remaining firmly rooted in the unchanging truth of God's Word.
Jesus demonstrated that ministry is about people. He met people where they were, showed compassion to those in need, taught the truth, developed His followers, and invited people into a life-changing relationship with God.
We desire to follow that same example. We want to build meaningful relationships, meet real needs, share the Gospel clearly, and help people take their next steps in following Christ. Our heart is to see lives transformed by Jesus throughout Pendergrass and Jackson County, with disciples who continue making disciples.
Our mission describes who we are called to be and what we are called to do. It begins with our relationship with God, shapes how we live, and drives us to invest in the lives of others.
Everything begins with God. We believe He created us for a relationship with Him, and our response to His love is to love Him with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength. We express that love through worship, prayer, obedience, fellowship, and the way we live each day.
Loving God is more than attending a worship service or knowing what the Bible says. It means allowing our love for Him to shape our priorities, our decisions, and our relationships. As we grow in our love for God, we become more devoted to His purposes and more passionate about making Him known.
Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. -Matthew 22:37
Jesus is not simply someone we believe in; He is the One we are called to follow. Following Christ means trusting Him as Savior and Lord, learning from His Word, becoming more like Him, and living according to His example.
We recognize that discipleship is a lifelong journey. None of us has arrived, and all of us have room to grow. As we follow Jesus, the Holy Spirit works in us to transform our character, strengthen our faith, and help us reflect Christ in our homes, workplaces, neighborhoods, and community.
Our goal is not merely to know more about Jesus, but to become more like Jesus.
Then he said to them all, 'If anyone wants to follow after me, let him deny himself, take up his cross daily, and follow me.' -Luke 9:23
This is the heart of our mission. We are called both to be disciples and to build disciples.
Being disciples means growing in our relationship with Jesus and allowing Him to shape every area of our lives. We pursue spiritual maturity through God's Word, prayer, worship, Christian community, obedience, and service.
Building disciples means investing in others so they can know Christ, grow in their faith, and help others follow Him, too. Discipleship is not reserved for pastors or church leaders. Every follower of Jesus has a role in encouraging, teaching, serving, and sharing the Gospel with others.
We believe the mission of the church extends beyond its walls. As we grow as disciples, we are equipped to make disciples in our families, among our friends, in our workplaces, and throughout our community.
Jesus commanded His followers to make disciples of all nations (Matthew 28:19-20). At Foundation Church, that command shapes our purpose and guides our ministry.
At Foundation Church, we use the 4R Discipleship Process - Receive, Reflect, Replicate, and Reach - to help us live out our mission of being and building disciples.
These four words describe a pathway for spiritual growth and ministry. They remind us that discipleship begins with what God does in us, continues through how we live, and extends to the lives of others.
Receive the truth of the Gospel and grow in a relationship with Jesus.
Discipleship begins with receiving God's grace through faith in Jesus Christ. We cannot earn our salvation; it is a gift of God. We respond to His love by trusting Christ, learning His Word, and opening our lives to His transforming work.
Receiving also involves a continual posture of learning and dependence on God. Through Scripture, prayer, worship, and Christian community, we receive the truth, wisdom, encouragement, and correction we need to grow.
Before we can effectively help others follow Jesus, we must first be willing to follow Him ourselves.
Key Scripture: Ephesians 2:8-10; Romans 10:17
Reflect the character of Christ in our everyday lives.
Following Jesus changes the way we think, speak, act, and relate to others. As we grow in our faith, we should increasingly reflect His love, grace, truth, humility, compassion, and holiness.
Reflection is about putting God's Word into practice. It means examining our lives, allowing Scripture to challenge us, and depending on the Holy Spirit to make us more like Jesus. This transformation should be evident not only at church but also in our homes, workplaces, schools, and relationships.
We are not called simply to hear the truth—we are called to live it out.
Key Scripture: Romans 12:1-2; James 1:22; Galatians 5:22-23
Help others grow by sharing what we have learned and lived.
Discipleship was never intended to stop with us. Jesus invested in His followers and equipped them to carry His mission forward. In the same way, we are called to invest in others, helping them understand God's Word, grow in their faith, and become mature followers of Christ.
Replication happens through intentional relationships, mentoring, teaching, encouragement, serving together, and sharing the lessons God is teaching us. It does not require having all the answers. It requires a willingness to walk alongside others and point them toward Jesus.
As disciples grow, they become equipped to help make more disciples. This is how the mission continues from one generation to the next.
Key Scripture: 2 Timothy 2:2; Matthew 28:19-20
Reach others with the love of Christ and the hope of the Gospel.
God calls us to look beyond ourselves and share His love with the people around us. We reach others by building relationships, serving our community, meeting needs, showing compassion, and communicating the good news of Jesus Christ.
Reaching people is not limited to special events or organized ministry programs. It happens in everyday conversations, acts of kindness, invitations to church, opportunities to serve, and the courage to share how Jesus has changed our lives.
Our desire is to see people throughout Pendergrass and Jackson County come to know Jesus, experience the hope of the Gospel, and begin their own journey of discipleship.
We want to be a church that goes beyond inviting people to attend - we want to help people encounter Christ and become part of His mission.
Key Scripture: Matthew 5:14-16; Romans 10:14-15
The vision, mission, and 4R Discipleship Process all point to one central purpose: to make disciples who make disciples.
We want every person at Foundation Church to have opportunities to grow in Christ, live out their faith, serve others, and invest in the next person. Whether you are exploring Christianity, beginning your walk with Jesus, or seeking to grow deeper in your faith, there is a place for you here.
We invite you to join us as we love God, follow Christ, and work together to be and build disciples in Pendergrass, Jackson County, and beyond.
